You are in for a nasty surprize. Oracle libraries are multithreaded, and 
Ruby build fails on HPUX if --enable-pthread option is used. It's been 
consistently reproduced on five different HPUX boxes in 3 different 
countries by yours truly alone; some other people been there, too.
