Subject: [ruby-talk:13369] Buffered and non-buffered IO

Could anyone point me to some documentation that describes how I could
cause output to $stdout (or any other output stream) to be switched
between buffered and unbuffered mode?  This corresponds to setting
`$|' to 1 or 0 in Perl.

I couldn't find anything about this in "Programming Ruby", but perhaps
I didn't look in the right place.
