From: rise Date: 2001-03-30T09:46:32+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:13351] tk/tkencoding clash - Advice? The English versions of the Tk demos for Ruby (originally re-Anglicized by Conrad Schneiker, now maintained by me) include the tkencoding.rb library. This conflicts with current versions of Ruby which have merged tkencoding into tk.rb. The sequence: require 'tk' require 'tkencoding' require 'tkafter' sends my installation of ruby into what appears to be an infinite loop (100% CPU utilization, doesn't exit without interrupt). I'd like to maintain compatibility with earlier versions of ruby and it seems like the best way to do that is conditionally require tkencoding based on Ruby version. The merge appears to have been done in Revision 1.17 of tk.rb (CVS Tags: v1_6_1, v1_6_0), so would it be reasonable to test for RUBY_VERSION greater than or equal to 1.6.0? Jonathan Conway
