Rubyists:  Tk is less static than you think--whatever
you're thinking.

As a working Ruby developer, yes, you might regard the
distribution Tk version as a practical constraint on
what you can do.  That's true.  However, the Tk main-
tainers are more open to suggestions now than at any
time in the past.  There are already Tk extensions that
support JPG and other formats.  If you want these to be
part of the standard Tk distribution, it's an *excellent*
time to volunteer to help make it happen.
