I joke with my boss that I'm going to write all of my production scripts in Ruby to ensure job security, since I would be the only one who knows it! Seriously, I would love to do stuff in Ruby but I think my boss, and the sys admin I have to work with, would kill me. I have two main gripes with Perl at the moment - global/local defaults (my, my, my) and the lack of (non-experimental) thread support. Other considerations are the *tons* of support via CPAN for Perl, and considerably better support for database interaction (DBI, DBD). I know, I know - this will improve as more people get into the language. I've seen a "Ruby to C" converter out there. Are there any "Perl2Ruby" converters. :) Regards, Dan
