I will strongly agree with this one.

A truly "Ruby Way" GUI framework would be a pleasure.

But for heavens sake don't copy Swing.

The Java table gadget is many thousands of lines of Java and still sucks.

The Java layout tools are just plain freakily horrible.

Elegant simplicity is what is required.

Ps: You can do a lot worse than just embedding Gecko Mozilla's layout 
engine.

That would fit supremely elegantly with the Ruby Way.
