Subject: [ruby-talk:12174] Nonblocking Read

Hi there,
  I was just wondering if there is a way to do a non-blocking read on a 
TCPSocket object.  I'm writing a small server, and would prefer to limit 
the number of threads created per session - thus a C-style non-blocking 
read would be my most preferred solution.
  Is there any way to do it in Ruby?
