That tutorial doesn't hold for ruby1.8. Ruby1.8 doesn't have
a rss/maker, so the whole encoding section at the bottom isn't too
helpful. No idea if the parsing part is good.

Anybody know what happened to rss/maker?

How exactly would anybody know WHICH of the many RSS libs on the RAA was
adopted into ruby?
