Subject: [ruby-talk:11978] Is mod ruby read to replace PHP?

Ok Ok, don't flame me for this...

I asked about a month ago if mod ruby is ready for prime time.

I am about to embark upon a new web project and I would really
(really!) like to use ruby. So, I am asking those who have used mod ruby,
Is it ready to be used as a replacement for php?

Will I have access to 
  md5
  templates

Are there any problems with memory usage?
Can it do persistent connections to MySQL (via mysql ruby)?
Is it stable, ie doesn't crash Apache?

It would not be a total loss to use PHP, but I am sure that a Ruby OO
implementation will be alot more fun.

It's funny how you think something is the best thing around (php) and then
along comes something else (ruby) and the old thing is almost a drudgery
to use....I suppose there is a parallel analogy for relationships....OT.
