Sorry for the misunderstanding; I didn't intend "toy code" to mean it 
was not fun, interesting, or challenging.  I had fun solving it and 
looking at other people's solutions.  I just meant it's code that's 
written for the sake of writing it, as opposed to a program you will 
actually use.

Since you, James, are (presumably) actually going to use such a program 
this Christmas, it's not a toy to you; but since the rest of us are just 
having fun solving the problem, it's "toy code", no matter how hard the 
problem is.
