In my Rakefile (given in earlier post):

  PKG_FILES = FileList[
    "lib/**/*", 
    "test/**/*",
    "examples/**/*",
    "doc/**/*",
    "[A-Z]*",
    "install.rb",
    "Rakefile"
  ].exclude(/\bCVS\b|~$/)
  p PKG_FILES.class

  # => NilClass

Huh?
