And while I don't care much for neither the implication that the code quality of Rails suffers due its humble size (or use of evals) nor that it owes all attention to the fact, I do welcome the notion that there are other powerful and/or elegant frameworks out there. Only a fool would dispute that. But then again, one man's elegance is another's clumsiness. And there's obviously a difference of vision (re: "the perfect MVC framework should have pure HTML templates"). Each his own. The more the merrier.
