RubydeExcelを紹介させてください。

RubydeExcelはRubyからExcelを制御するスクリプトを書きやすくするライブラリです。
こんな記述が可能になります。
require 'excel_lib'
excel = Excel.new # const_loadとか、visibleの設定はやってくれる
book = excel.copy_book('./test.xls') # フルパスへの変換をやってくれます
p book # -> Excel::Workbook  # Excel内で使うクラス名が表示されます(一部だけ)
sheet = book.worksheets(1)
cursol = sheet.range("A1").get_cursol  # Excel::RangeCursolを新設
10.times {|index|
  cursol.text = "#{index}"
  cursol.v_move(1)  # カーソルを動かしながら値を設定していく
}
