Backport changed from 2.5: DONTNEED, 2.6: DONTNEED, 2.7: REQUIRED to 2.5: DONTNEED, 2.6: DONTNEED, 2.7: DONE ruby_2_7 771a5b1a0cbf69531060330340a000704be71239. ---------------------------------------- Bug #16606: SimpleDelegator no longer call respond_to? on the delegated object if it's a BasicObject https://bugs.ruby-lang.org/issues/16606#change-84652 * Author: byroot (Jean Boussier) * Status: Closed * Priority: Normal * ruby -v: ruby 2.7.0p0 (2019-12-25 revision 647ee6f091) * Backport: 2.5: DONTNEED, 2.6: DONTNEED, 2.7: DONE ---------------------------------------- The regression was introduced by https://bugs.ruby-lang.org/issues/16127 In short on 2.6 `SimpleDelegator` would always call `respond_to?` on the delegated object to figure if it should delegate or error. But on 2.7 it doesn't do so if the delegated object is a `BasicObject`, which broke some of our code. The fix was merged on master by @jeremyevans0 as f2552216d43040cd42bbb9fd484eab6c70856fe6 (https://github.com/ruby/ruby/pull/2875). However I'd like to require a backport to the ruby_2_7 branch. -- https://bugs.ruby-lang.org/ Unsubscribe:
