I'd like to test the patch (I'm interested in this kind of performance 
improvements and can't wait for the end of next year ...). The current 
patch is inconsistent (it lacks a hunk at line 3455 ...). Could you send 
another one (unified mode would be better, it is easier to read ;-)) ?
