Because the parser is designed in a way that the colon prefix without=20
double-quotes accepts only characters that form a valid method name as=20
accepted by the def keyword. The rest of Ruby doesn't have this=20
limitation. To circumvent this, say "=3D".intern or the more recent syntax=
=20
:"=3D"
