Summary: irb: assignment to $stdout

Initial Comment:
irb crashes if you try to assign any class other than File or IO to $stdout.  Test case:

require 'stringio'
$stdout = StringIO.new

another test case:

test = ''
def test.write(val)
  self << val.to_s
end
$stdout = test
