I did see just CVS trunk, not 1.8 branch.  Those apparently
haven't been committed to the trunk yet, irregularly.  I added
them to the trunk now.

I think, all non-trivial changes must be committed and tested
in the trunk, and should be backported to stable branches
later, unless it will be definitely obsolete in the future.
