From: Brent Roman Date: 2011-10-13T06:24:32+09:00 Subject: [ruby-core:40126] MBARI Patchset now available for Ruby 1.8.7 patchlevel 352 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------070501060509000208040700 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit The MBARI Patches to MRI have been updated for 1.8.7 patchlevel 352 The code is available on github at: http://github.com/brentr/matzruby You can find a description of each patch with installation instructions here: http://sites.google.com/site/brentsrubypatches The patched 1.8.7-352 interpreter passes all the "make check"* tests and does not leak memory (as all the unpatched MRI 1.6 and 1.8 series interpreters do) for such simple test cases as to one attached**. If you are still running the 1.8 series MRI and are experiencing leaks, especially with long running multithreaded applications, I'd be interested to hear about your experiences with these patches. *note: the tests of the soap protocol do not run on my test systems, either with or without the MBARI patchset. Many others have reported this. For now, I choose to exclude the soap tests. Does anyone have a fix for this? ** DO NOT run the attached script without monitoring memory use or setting a process memory quota. Otherwise, it will consume all available memory within minutes --------------070501060509000208040700 Content-Type: application/x-ruby; name="leakcheck.rb" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="leakcheck.rb" IyEvdXNyL2Jpbi9lbnYgcnVieQojaGVhcCBncm93cyBxdWlja2x5IHdpdGhvdXQgYm91bmQg b24gYWxsIHVucGF0Y2hlZCB2ZXJzaW9ucyBvZiBNUkkKI2V2ZW4gTUJBUkkgNy8weDIwMjAg Zml4ZXMgdGhpcyBzaW1wbGUgY2FzZSBvZiBhIGxlYWsgY2F1c2VkIGJ5IGdob3N0CiNvYmpl Y3QgcmVmZXJlbmNlcyBsZWZ0IG9uIHRoZSBjYWxsIHN0YWNrLgojTUJBUkkgNy8weDQ3NzAg aXMgcmVjb21tZW5kZWQgZm9yIG1vcmUgY29tcGxleCBjYXNlcy4KCmxvb3AgZG8KICBAeD1j YWxsY2N7fGN8Y30KZW5kCg== --------------070501060509000208040700--
