Yep. I think it's a bad feature in general, the performance thing is
just an additional great reason not to put it in the language.

Brian said he's writing up something more substantial on this too. And
it's not as if we're the only two people who feel this way, and there
are also people that feel strongly refinements should be in.
Ultimately, what matz says goes.
