From: Luis Lavena Date: 2011-09-06T03:30:22+09:00 Subject: [ruby-core:39284] Dir.home and Windows specific behavior Hello, Checking some Ruby C code (win32/win32.c) found that once File.expand_path or Dir.home is used, ENV["HOME"] is set.
C:\Users\Luis>set HOME
Environment variable HOME not defined

C:\Users\Luis>ruby --disable-gems -ve "puts ENV['HOME']"
ruby 1.9.4dev (2011-09-05 trunk 33186) [i386-mingw32]

I believe this is done for performance, but I cannot find a comment that documents this behavior. https://github.com/ruby/ruby/blob/trunk/win32/win32.c#L559-581 Is this expected? My conclusion is correct? Thank you. -- Luis Lavena AREA 17 - Perfection in design is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but rather when there is nothing more to take away.
