OK I'm think I'm almost at the bottom of this. Could you please explain 
the intent behind this code?

   # ext/extmk.rb:39
   $" << "mkmf.rb"
   load File.expand_path("lib/mkmf.rb", srcdir)

The same pattern is used at enc/make_encmake.rb:7.
I don't understand it.
