[ruby-core:35222] [Ruby 1.9-Bug#4394][Open] Bug in floating point multiplication

From: Stefan Lembach <redmine@...>
Date: 2011-02-13 18:01:47 UTC
List: ruby-core #35222
Bug #4394: Bug in floating point multiplication
http://redmine.ruby-lang.org/issues/show/4394

Author: Stefan Lembach
Status: Open, Priority: Normal
Category: core, Target version: 1.9.2
ruby -v: ruby 1.9.2p136 (2010-12-25 revision 30365) [x86_64-linux]

I stumbled upon the following odd rounding error in Float multiplication while using irb to calculate the tip for the pizza service ;-):

12.4 * 1.05 yields 13.020000000000001, but should be 13.02
