From: Perry Smith Date: 2011-01-29T00:07:04+09:00 Subject: [ruby-core:34938] Setting libpath for AIX Hi, I'm porting rvm to AIX and discovered that setting libpath in Ruby 1.9.1 and 1.9.2 is breaking me. A sample of the build line produced has: -Wl,-blibpath:/usr/local/rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.1-p430/lib:/usr/lib:/lib as one of the arguments to the link lines. You don't ever want to do this. In this particular case, simply adding: -L /usr/local/rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.1-p430/lib will ***add*** the path that you want to the libpath. The reason this kills me is because gcc has its libraries down the normal /usr/local/lib path and when you set libpath as it is being done, the executable won't even load because it can't find gcc's shared object file. This also explains why gems that create a load module like postges do not work without manual tweaking. I would open a bug report but I didn't know what version to put it against. If someone can tell me that much, I can open a bug report. Thank you for your time Perry
