Git makes the best "central" option, because you can push to it with almost every other DVCS. The two most popular DVCS's are git and mercurial, the second can be used on a git repo with hg-git. I believe bzr is not *that* much better than git to outweigh git's popularity. And hg-git keeps mercurial an option too. > I say this because (a) bzr's command set is almost identical to svn > for all core operations, making it a much less painful change; and (b) > bzr works well on Windows, unlike git. My guess is that Easy Git makes a transition from svn even simpler. http://people.gnome.org/~newren/eg/ and the comparison is very helpful: http://people.gnome.org/~newren/eg/git-for-svn-users.html Personally, I have nothing against bzr and I would choose it over svn in a heartbeat anyday. And if you can use bzr on a git repo (and I presume you can), it doesn't make a difference if one prefers one DVCS over another.=20 I know that bzr is great and deserves a lot of respect. For non-git DVCSes it is somewhat unfortunate, that people use 'DVCS' and 'git' interchangeably, as is the case here - while comparing with svn. Assuming all major DVCS's have reasonable SVN or git repo support, discussing specific DVCS's here seems off topic.
