[ruby-core:33597] Building with profile (gprof) options hands during configure (MinGW)

Hello,

At RubyInstaller group we wanted to start looking into performance
issues reported over slow Ruby performance under Windows.

For that, we would like to build Ruby with profiling information.

The following configure flags seems to be the correct ones:

sh ../ruby/configure --enable-shared --disable-install-doc
debugflags='-pg' LIBS=-lgmon

But we faced something weird, as the configure process halted/stalled
checking for void* or size_t sizes, as commented by me here:

The conftest.c is generated, compiled and executed with success
manually, conftest.val is generated correctly, but seems that inside
the configure process, it just hangs.

A workaround to this will be not define these flags during configure
and instead do them over the generated Makefile, but these could
affect other definitions provided by Ruby's configure process.

Was wondering if someone attempted to perform a compilation with
profile settings before.

Please note that profiling options seems to work on cross compilation,
but since the program is not actually executed, that is not valid to
figure out what is going on here.
