While I agree 100% with you, there are still many many library authors
that haven't upgraded their libraries or applications for 1.9.x, even
less for just released 1.9.2

In my position as maintainer of RubyInstaller I have no alternative
but provide support for what Ruby-Core consider supported: 1.8.7
included.

But, as library author (particularly rake-compiler), I'm considering
dropping it support, specially related to the cross-compilation
issues:
