Hello Chuck,

Trying to cross-compile trunk to x86_64 with latest changes from
wanabe and others, I was able to reproduce this encoding issue.

The following patch, based on trunk, solve the encoding compile issue:

http://pastie.org/1177278

Which is basically unify Mingw32 and Mingw64 (which was incorrect
architecture, but that is subject of another conversation).

See if this patch works for you and let me know
