From: Phlip Date: 2010-09-18T22:40:28+09:00 Subject: [ruby-core:32469] ruby.lib vs VC++ Here's a nice sample program to illustrate my problem: http://github.com/time/rubyholdem.git When I compile Ruby with Visual Studio 2005, via NMAKE, I get msvcr80-ruby191.lib and msvcr80-ruby191-static.lib. When my own VC++ project links to the former, I can't debug inside Ruby. When I link to the latter I get a zillion linker errors. So when I grab that RubyHoldem program, and switch its ruby LIB to the msvcr80-ruby191-static.lib, I get a shorter and more concise diagnostic: msvcr80-ruby191-static.lib(ruby.obj) : error LNK2005: _DllMain@12 already defined in rubyholdem.obj Creating library C:\phlip\tools\rubyholdem\\whuser.lib and object C:\phlip\tools\rubyholdem\\whuser.exp LINK : warning LNK4098: defaultlib 'MSVCRT' conflicts with use of other libs; use /NODEFAULTLIB:library rubyholdem.obj : warning LNK4049: locally defined symbol _rb_eException imported rubyholdem.obj : warning LNK4049: locally defined symbol _rb_eRuntimeError imported C:\phlip\tools\rubyholdem\\whuser.dll : fatal error LNK1169: one or more multiply defined symbols found Aaaand turning on /NODEFAULTLIB, like it says, leads to the same big cascade of errors that I get. A little help? -- Phlip http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?ZeekLand
