Currently ruby's Thread class has a toggler for abort_on_exception, but has no toggler for abort_on_main_thread_dying. The only way to prevent it from aborting on main thread dying is to add a sleep at the bottom of your script, or something a bit tedious, and repeated often in different projects, like: Thread.each{|t| t.join unless t == Thread.current} Feature Request: easier way to *not* die when the main thread closes. option 1) add Thread.do_not_exit_on_main_thread_close option 2) add Thread.join_all_others, which does the code block a few lines earlier. Thoughts? Thanks. -r
