Hmm, I think internal #to_s bites you, rather than buys you, except
for a few cases you've mentioned above. So I object to add it to the
core. But at the same time you are free to use your #method_missing
helper to ENV, which is convenient, though not worthyto add in to the
core.
Treating Numbers/Boolean values specially might be better, but complex.
