The functions whose prototype is not included in include/ruby/ruby.h are considered "just for internal". Third party must not use them. It is arguable that all the functions whose prototype is included in include/ruby/ruby.h are public or not. Yugui says they are public, but some committers (including I) insist they are considered "just for internal" unless they are documented. -- Yusuke Endoh
