Situation: Currently in a .rb file, to determine if you're on 1.9 versus 1.8 is not all that straight forward. Ex: To tell you're on 1.9. RUBY_VERSION > '1.8' except that that fails--instead you must use RUBY_VERSION >= '1.9.0' or RUBY_VERSION > '1.9' # using > 1.9 to determine that you're running is a bit hard. Suggestion: add new constant: RUBY_VERSION_INT (or whatever) like 190, 191, etc. That would simplify the logic quite a bit. It hurts my head every time I have to write a boolean to determine if I'm on 1.8. Thoughts? -r
