Subject: [ruby-core:27462] difficulty building 1_8 branch

Currently when I try to build ruby_1_8 branch using mingw/msys, I get:

compiling Win32API

make[1]: Leaving directory `/e/dev/ruby/downloads/ruby_1_8/ext/Win32API'
make: *** [mkmain.sh] Error 1


[if I manually go into ext/win32 and run make, then resume with the
"global overall" make, it errs with the next extension--bigdecimal, in
just the same way].

[it's building in the wrong directory].
