From: Ryan Davis Date: 2009-11-16T09:42:47+09:00 Subject: [ruby-core:26752] --enabled-shared configure flags/vars I'm trying like mad to get some ruby versions built for 32bit intel on a 64bit machine/OS. I'm unable to get the last release of 1.8.7 to build and link properly. ext/bigdecimal has some weird error about recursive variable definitions. I did get 1.8.8 (head of ruby 1_8 branch) to compile, but only with extra work: CFLAGS="-m32" LDFLAGS="-m32 -arch i386" ./configure -C --enable-shared EXTLDFLAGS="-m32" make -j 4 -e LDFLAGS isn't used for shared. DLDFLAGS is, but I can't seem to get that to get set via the configure, which means that linking is broken via a plain 'make' because it compiles all the .o files 32 bit, but tries to link 64. I think it is a bug if the required flags aren't settable via configure and properly stored in the makefile, but I SOOO don't understand autoconf so I can't fix it.
