From: Roger Pack Date: 2009-08-09T01:57:50+09:00 Subject: [ruby-core:24828] request: add optional ability to *not* override windows IO methods Background: currently when you require in a c extension, on windows this calls #define select rb_w32_select #define fstat rb_fstat_w64 # something like that, on 1.9 etc. etc. Sometimes one wants to interface with ruby but still use direct IO calls. This currently requires #include #undef select #undef fstat .... which is unweildy and time consuming and error prone, and causes some surprising compiler clashes. One option to overcome: allow users to specify #DONT_OVERRIDE_WINDOWS or such before the include ruby.h and if that directive is set, don't override anything. Would that work? Thanks. 0r
