[ruby-core:24113] Stats and numbers on redmine tickets

From: Marc-Andre Lafortune <ruby-core-mailing-list@...>
Date: 2009-07-02 06:08:52 UTC
List: ruby-core #24113
I calculated some data on the Ruby tickets on redmine (i.e. for the last 13
months).

I'll call the age of closed tickets the number of days between the last
update and the creation (which could thus overestimate the time it was left
open). The age of open tickets is of course the number of days passed since
it was created.

Splitting the ages in a more or less log scale, we get:

** Age of tickets **
      | =98 2 days | =98 week | =98 month | 1-3 months | more | Total
To do | 6 | 11 | 82 | 110 | 241 | 450
Done | 369 | 123 | 117 | 74 | 30 | 713

If we consider tickets with age greater than a week (presumably "harder"
tickets):
*
* Tickets not closed within a week **
Created in 13 months: 654
Closed in that period: 221
Remaining: 433

This trend seem to get worse with longer timeframes. For instance, given th=
e
fact that only 30 tickets were ever closed after 3 months, how long will it
take to close the 241 open tickets that are already older than 3 months?

And how can I help?

Below are some additional details for anyone interested.
