Subject: [ruby-core:22335] Hash, eql and builtin subclass issue

Given:

class X < String
    def eql? other
        false
    end
end

h = {}
x = X.new 'foo'
h[x] = 4
h[x]

1.8.6 obeys redefined eql? for String subclass whereas 1.9 doesn't. Is 
this a bug ?
