I respected the original design, and that was of course simpler, a one liner practically. But I agree with you, delegating freeze to the underlying implementing data structure appeals to me too. "Do not ask, tell!" right ;)? I 'll gladly provide a patch for this if the team is interested. That said the JRuby solution is quite nice too.
