I tend to feel about git the same way I feel about Linux. They're both fast, fully-functional tools, but often rather blunt and imposing...too "opinionated" for my taste, perhaps. They both are very scriptable, extendable, infinitely tweakable...but there's all these wires and shit sticking out all over the place, wires I'm worried I'll touch and get a nasty shock, or accidentally short out and blow the whole thing apart. Maybe it's a learning curve thing, but in both cases I feel like things are done differently for difference's sake, and unless you're in the elite club that already thinks like Linus, you live in pain. The local repo is obviously awesome, but after all I have my five commands I use in git, and I rarely stray. And every time one of those wires shocks me, I find myself less and less enamored with git. - Charlie
