I am a member of Ruby Reference Manual Renewal Project (in Japanese). * http://redmine.ruby-lang.org/projects/show/rurema I read minitest/spec, minitest/mock to write the manual (in Japanese). I think that minitest/spec, minitest/mock should be removed from standard library. Maybe, I do not use these libraries. The reasons: * I will use RSpec instead minitest/spec. ** I can write spec in Japanese when I use RSpec. * I will use flexmock or mocha instead minitest/mock. ** I think flexmock and mocha are more better than minitest/mock for mock and stub. * I think minitest/spec, minitest/mock are concept code. There are some problems for minitest/spec, minitest/mock. * No RDoc (most important point) ** I think "No Document, No User". * I think that they need more test code. * I think that their quality is not suitable for Ruby's standard library. * I cannot write spec in Japanese. (I can when I use RSpec) * I write a spec hard besause there are no document. code : require 'minitest/spec' describe 'AAA' do it "calc" do (6 * 7).must_equal(41) end it "calc2" do (6 * 7).must_equal(40, 'something wrong') end end MiniTest::Unit.autorun result : Loaded suite mini Started FF Finished in 0.001093 seconds. 1) Failure: test_calc2(Aaa) [(eval):4]: something wrong. Expected 42, not 40. 2) Failure: test_calc(Aaa) [(eval):3]: Expected 41, not 42. 2 tests, 2 assertions, 2 failures, 0 errors, 0 skips The second example's result is wrong. Swap expected and actual. I have something I'd like to ask Ryan Davis about. Thank you for your great work in minitest and so on. * Why did you create minitest/spec and minitest/mock? ** I know minitest/unit is an alternative test/unit. * Will you improve minitest/spec and minitest/mock in a positive way? * Will you write complete RDoc for these libraries as soon as possible? * Where is the upstream repository ? (Is Ruby's trunk origin?) ** I want to read the latest code for our work. regards, -- okkez okkez000@gmail.com
