From: darren kirby Date: 2008-04-02T07:21:25+09:00 Subject: [PATCH 0/2] GetoptLong and ARGV Hello all, This is in reference to an open bug [0] at the rubyforge tracker. Following will be two patches, one each against trunk and 1.8. The patches simply implement the code written and suggested by 7rans . There are at leat two good reasons for the change: 1. It is arguably more 'correct' to leave ARGV unmodified. There may be a case where a developer needs access to the original ARGV after using GetoptLong. 2. It allows the developer to pass arbitrary arrays to GetoptLong for processing. A use case for this would be if the developer wanted to read one or more config files to set default values then override the defaults with options/arguments passed on the CLI. Again, please note that the code herein was written by 7rans, and I am simply doing the 'physical labour'.
