Subject: Ruby 1.9 (trunk) crashes when running RubyGems and Rake

Ruby 1.9 (trunk) seems to crash when running the supplied RubyGems and Rake:

The end of both backtraces refer to a Mutex#synchronize call.

It's compiled on x86 Ubuntu Linux. Am I doing something wrong, or is 
this a known problem?
