Does "./ruby bin/gem install ..."work?

I tried it just 10 minutes ago, with the head, and got the error y'all were 
discussing before:

  Error fetching remote gem cache: undefined method `[]=' for nil:NilClass

(I am aware this is off-Subject; you just appear to be in the mood..;)
