Subject: Wide strings to ruby strings


I would like to update swig to support std::wstring under 1.9.

However, I am wondering what's the proper way to convert a C++ wide 
string (wchar_t) to ruby1.9's utf8?

Python provides PyUnicode_FromWideChar and PyUnicode_AsWideChar, but it 
seems ruby is lacking here.  Can iconv handle such a conversion?
