The problem occurs for Ruby 1.8 (I have oci-186-25) too.

Line 1480 old (ruby 1.8.6):
         if tk1.kind_of?(TkId) || tk1.kind_of?(TkOp)

This code doesn't recognize any kind of string. The same
change as for Ruby 1.9 works here too.
