Is it possible to call into Ruby from more than one thread at the same time? Do I have to protect Ruby with a mutex myself or is Ruby doing that internally? I couldn't find the places where the big giant lock is aquired. Note that I am using Ruby 1.9. I heard about that Multi-VM idea (n VMs per process). Any ideas how much space this would save comparing it against the approach with n processes, each of which runs 1 VM? I think, as each VM must contain the basic classes and objects and of course the application, the gain will not be that much, at least not in memory. It will be probably a little bit more efficient for the operating system. Thanks in advance. Regards, Michael
