I don't think it should ever be an error to ask if an object is equal  
to any other object.  Nil (or false) would be the correct response in  
the example you gave.

Ordering operators are different.  It make no sense to ask of 5  
O'Clock is less than a hamburger, so an ArgumentError is appropriate  
when the items asked to be ordered are not comparable.
