From: Sean Russell Date: 2007-10-04T05:57:20+09:00 Subject: REXML + RSS Hey, One of my upstream pushes of bug fixes for REXML was reverted by another maintainer because it caused some tests to fail. Which is fine, except that it failed because the tests are bad. Kou, I think these are in your area. The problem is that the tests are trying to parse some invalid XML, and the changes I'm pushing include closing a bug in REXML where some namespace rules were being ignored. The namespace spec requires that all prefixes be declared: http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml-names/#ns-using (see "Namespace constraint: prefix declared") and the tests: test_to_s(RSS::TestTaxonomy) test_favicon_to_s(RSS::TestImage) test_item_to_s(RSS::TestImage) all use XML that contains undeclared namespaces -- for example: http://meerkat.oreillynet.com/?c=cat23 A Meerkat channel Data: XML Now, on the one hand, I hate namespaces and would gladly leave this little requirement out of REXML; on the other hand, that would make REXML violate the namespace spec. If you can argue that REXML shouldn't report errors that the spec says it should, then I'll revert that change; otherwise, the tests should be fixed. --- SER Confidentiality Notice This e-mail (including any attachments) is intended only for the recipients named above.
