I think that when RubyGems reaches 1.0, then it should be included
with some of the slower parts rewritten in C. There are still concerns
from some Linux repackagers, mostly Debian-folk, which I don't think
are worth addressing because Ruby isn't just a Linux thing.

In the meantime, though, RubyGems is advancing faster than Ruby at the
moment and there are some architectural changes that need to happen
before it enters into Ruby's core.
